Personal History:
Clara is one of three children; she is the middle child and only girl (brothers are 35 and 18). Her mother is a Muggleborn witch who had basically left the magical world entirely upon her graduation from Hogwarts; Clara's father is a Muggle. His job required her family to move around quite frequently when she was young, so she never had many close friends in primary school (which she and her brothers attended). Her Hogwarts letter was unexpected, as she is the only one of her siblings to have acquired any magical ability, and had kept the few strange instances that had occured to herself, out of fear she would not have enough magic to gain admittance to the school; she simply did her best to control herself. It caused much debate and stress in her family, as to whether or not to send her, and after her first year she was almost not allowed to return. She had a few problems, being sorted into Slytherin as a Half blood, but most of the serious problems were in her first two years; after that she was able to defend herself magically well enough to not be bothered by the occasional hazing. The attitude of a few of her housemates is the reason her parents didn't really wish to send her back to Hogwarts, but by then she was so determined to become brilliant at magic that she probably would have run away had her parents refused. It was also, despite those who weren't too fond of her, the first STABLE place she'd ever had. Clara was not personally offended or turned off by the Dark Arts, and she was slightly confused at first as to why they are automatically associated with blood prejudice. Once it became clear to her that that is definitely the case, however, she quietly began preparing herself for Auror training, as she sees it as elite and comprehensive. Though she has no love for those who would discriminate against people who are not Pureblood (it is, in her mind, incredibly stupid, if nothing else), the reason she wanted to become an Auror was to get that training. Her main goal and ambition has always been simply to be a great witch. She was very studious in school and very focused, especially on wand work. Clara had as many friends as she wanted (which was not really very many), but was not necessarily known on sight by most of the students in the school. Once she graduated and began Auror training she became a bit more open with the people around her, simply because they all at least shared a common goal and were all there for one thing. During these years are when she made her first and few close friends. This is Clara's first long term placement; she has, until now, been based out of the Ministry.

Personality:
Clara is not rude or unfriendly, but she is rather guarded around new or newish people. This is a result not only of her training, but because she has been seen as a Halfblood first by the Slytherins, and a Slytherin first by many others. (She has done a great job of accepting this, by they way; she has little to no angst associated with her school years, and no regrets.) She also tends to pass judgement on whether or not she likes someone fairly quickly, and assumes that everyone else is doing the same thing with her. She adores good conversation, and as long as she has regular access to that does not really feel for a lack of friends or close relationships. In general she likes PEOPLE, as they are fascinating to her, but she doesn't often come across as particularly warm, even when she might want to. She is, in general, very hard to excite or anger, as such things are generally a waste. It could almost be described as being laid back, but she focuses intently on the tasks at hand. Clara is above average in her intuitiveness, but from the fact that she has been a naturally observant person her entire life. No SEER!ability or anything like that, kthnx.


Physical Description:
Very small build: around 5'3" and slight. She stays in shape but has never been particularly athletic. Brown hair, blue eyes, fairly delicate features. Slightly odd looking.

Hobbies and talents - max of five:
Voracious reader
Reading is a solitary activity, but one she can then discuss with others. It also takes imagination to really enjoy reading fiction, and Clara has one but is frequently hesitant to use it (she reads fiction and nonfiction alike). Being well informed and having a variety of extensive background information is also essential to her job, and reading is one way to get those things.

Wizard Chess
It takes logic and the ability to look at a situation from multiple angles and requires the use of prediction. There are not many games Clara would deem worthwhile. Chess/Wizard Chess is one.

She likes Flying. (Never got into Quidditch as much as she's not good enough to have made the house team or anything.)
The reason she didn't even try out for the house team or seek out Quidditch more as a sport to play (she's a spectator, and she's not BAD at it), is because Clara doesn't enjoy doing something unless she'll be the best at it. In an organized competitive setting, especially.

Weaknesses - for every hobby or talent, the character must have two weaknesses:
Vanity / Arrogance
This is very wrapped up in how hard she pushes herself for the things that matter to her. Clara finds other people fascinating, but she's a little snobby. She does not find people who do not have goals or who lack the ability/drive to acheive their goals fascinating. I guess judgemental is under here somewhere as well, though I think I covered that in the personality description.

She's slightly paranoid. She thinks everyone will make negative assumptions about her right off the bat (this IS based in paranoia, not low self esteem).
Ah, yes, again with the judgemental, and vanity actually. She wants her credit where credit is due. In RP though, I think this would either come off as her being demanding, or else her being cold. It would depend on her opinion of the person she was interacting with.

She obsesses about whatever activity she is engaged in at the time.
Don't interrupt if she's not doing something trivial. If she wanted to be doing whatever it is you're bringing up, she'd be doing it.

Fiercely competitive, even about stupid things.
I'm not sure there's much I could add here without repeating myself at this point. XD

Tends toward being overly cautious
Hellooooo, self preservation. Wants every situation to work out for the best. For her. And a select few other people.

Very non-confrontational about PERSONAL issues.
Being defensive makes you look bad. Clara doesn't like having to defend herself to anyone, both because she never does anything except what she deems as the best and most clear option (and if other people can't see that too bad so sad for them), and because she suspects she's not good enough at it to come out successful every time.
